Fashion Media: The Image and Desire

This course will explore fashion media and the concept of desire. The fashion industry serves as an arena for a dialogue between creators, tastemakers, the masses and media (journalism, photography, film, new media). We will explore how fashion photography contributes to the dialogue by functioning as an intersection of aesthetic, ethical and social desires. How does it mediate sexuality, consumption, taste, status, style and globalization?
