II. Desire



Above, the concept of desire exists in a tension between the cognitive and physical, and between pleasure and suffering. Below, the introduction to Philosophy & Desire suggests the discourse of desire has been associated with Freud and sex, and Hegel and power, but does not consider that sex can be a vehicle of power as the editorial below suggests.











Below, looking through the fashion lens as a dominant male perspective. First heterosexually, then homosexually, then at two women, suggesting another male view or female homosexuality.














The Double Page Spread, Rosetta Brooks



The author suggests that progressive fashion ads are often considered like that above, something entering an art realm. However it was the double page spread, a form borrowed from pornography, that sexualized fashion magazines.
